At THE w SOUTH BEACH
The Codependent Fountain Tableau featuring the familiar icons Hello Kitty, My Melody and Miffy, was Tom Sachs first monumental bronze work. He created the sculpture in 2007 for the Lever House installation of his Bronze Collection, on display in the Noguchi Gardens of Lever House in 2008. Working from original toys, Sachs and his assistants constructed enlarged versions of the popular children's characters using sheets of lightweight foamcore and glue guns, which are then cast in bronze, and ironically painted white to resemble the white foamcore surface.
